Segedunum Roman Fort, Baths & Museum

Segedunum, meaning 'strong fort', guarded the eastern end of Hadrian's Wall and was home to 600 Roman soldiers.

Today, Segedunum is one of the most completely excavated forts in the Roman Empire and the ideal place to explore the story of Roman life in the north of England. The site features reconstructions of Hadrian's Wall and of a Roman Bath House, and a 35-metre high tower provides outstanding views over the fort. Inside, the museum displays fascinating objects unearthed at Segedunum and tells the story of the site from Roman times up to the present day, including Wallsend's industrial heritage.
